Filming Update

After having a talk with my physiotherapy nurse she has told me to try to gradually use my wrist and hand so that it will heal correctly however she has told me to try and avoid doing activities where I am able to cause further damage to it. This means that I am unable to do any filming as there may be incidents where I could do just that. In the mean time I will be starting my ancillary texts so that I do not fall behind.

Deconstruction of a Music Video

The Killers - Battle Born Album Cover

The title of the video is the first thing the audience sees, the graphic title with the starry night background shows that the video could be a narrative (film) video as this is a conventional code in the filmatic world.

Seeing Brandon Flowers on his own in a blackend room shows he is the main performer in this video. It doesnt give an impression of what the video could be about however with him being all alone it could signify that the song could be about loneliness and maybe a 'runaway'.

The red along with the clouded background it could mean an angry storm is brewing from the artist. The fact that he is alone could mean that the storm is in his head however the lyrics 'teenage lust' might show that the red symbolises the passion from their encounter.

The red road could signify that they was on a road to passion and love but the black background could represent that it didn't go according to plan and that it went all wrong. With the cloud superinposed onto the road it could show the passion and heated lust they had.

Showing him looking over the city could signify that he's lost someone and now feels alienated from the world and all alone. Being drenched in black could show the bitterness or maybe emptiness he is now feeling from his 'runaway'.

The birds eye view of the band being submersed in red light shows that the passion they had was that big and great it is now surrounding them all. The lyrics sung at this part 'Baby why you wanna hide it' shows that whatever they had was ruined because the girl left the guy even though he was resistant of her to do so and is now singing about his 'runaway'.

Having the band together in the same shot for the same time shows that they have united in their loss of the girl they loved. They represent people who have lost someone great to them and the red road superinposed on the ceiling shows that they still have a journey in front of them to be able to move past losing their 'runaway'.

Having the lead on his own at the end of the song while the camera pans down shows he is still unresolved about what has happened. Having him drenched in black the red lightened stage is the only source of light within the room and for it to be red shows that his passion and love for the woman he lost is still fighting strong but as the camera pans down the red light fades to black along with the music which could signify that he has lost the battle or has given up his fight.
