Genre

The genre that my chosen song falls within is Indie Rock.
Indie Rock originated from the United Kingdom and the United States of America during the 1980's but didn't become mainstream in the UK until the late 1990's.

Indie Rock started out in the UK as Indie Pop during the 80's with bands such as New Order developing it through techno and house music.
The Rock scene broke through into the mainstream audience during the 90's with bands such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam, but by the end of the 90's the rock and indie pop sound had come together.

Coldplay is a Indie Rock band who came together during the late 90's.



Blur are a successful Indie Rock band who rose to the mainstream producing Indie Pop music, but soon developed into Indie Rock during the late 90's and early 00's as a result of the rivalry with also successful Alternative Rock band Oasis.
